Dear all. I thank you guys for your inputs. I went down to view the S1. Factory paint (no major crash). Rust is minimal at wheel arch, a small spot near the window and boot lid.
More importantly, I spotted hydraulic cam housing. Test drove it, drove like a QV with 20 year old shock absorbers. I'm a proud owner of an S1!
As usual, I'm so excited with the 33 no one else except 33 owners can know why. Despite having such worn undercarraige, it out handled some brand new cars I have tried recently. Engine sounded exdcellent! All I need is some bushes changed and absorbers replaced and it's all ready, another endavour.... _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

Hi,
Having hydraulic lifters it is obvious that the previous owner has exchanged the engine with a newer one. Do you have any idea why the previous owner has done so?

Oh, yes. He later confessed that the engine prior to that was blown and there were tons of 1.7 qv engine back then so it was cheaper to replace the engine. The gearbox is one of the finest I ever tried too. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |
