Hi,

I have got a 33 16V which stops running when the foot is taken off the throttle. This generally happens at traffic lights, roundabouts etc and is a heck of a pain. The car can be started again straight away without any problems and runs normally until the next set of lights or stop sign etc.

The problem is definititely intermittent - sometimes the engine operates normally for a couple of weeks before going on the blink (normally for a for a few days). There seems to be no pattern to whether there will be a problem or not (i.e. not temperature or time related).

I am thinking that the problem is related to the fuel-injection system, but would like to get some pointers before doing anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

i have exactly the same problem in my 33...ive been told that it can a number of things...battery is weak, the rounds are running to little (i dont know the correct term for this) leading the car to go under 700-600 rpms and then dying and the final and most expensive reason is the injection pump...basically if your pump is a bit old and doesn't "pump" as well as before, when u stop pressing the pedal it stops and the has a hard time starting up again or something like that causing the engine to stall....but this is what ive heard from friends... i have yet to take the car to a real mechanic...

Hi
Not guaranteed, but check throttle switch clicks as it just opens/closes, and also really makes contact. Also disconnect, clean with a good contact cleaner like 2-26, not one which leaves an oily deposit, and reconnect all plug-on connectors. "90% of all electrical problems are due to bad connections"
Bon chance
