stuttering problems

my car is "stuttering" on long drives - ie in 5th and sometimes in 2nd. Could the fuei filter be a problem and is it east to change from above the bonnet.

Could be built up crankcase pressure. Look inside the oil filler, and undo the screw.

Then check the gauze for signs of clogging.

Also, you should check the other posts regarding fuel tank pressure release hose/valve, if your fuel cap 'hisses' when you take it off.

is this screw very obvious? I have a 1994 mk3 16v - i looked down the oil filler tube and didn't see it the other day (i wasn't looking for it though)
