Hello all

When I fitted the Koni inserts to the front struts I was warned that they may come loose. For those that haven't done it, the originals are welded in at the top of the strut tubes. For the Koni replacement, the old ones are cut off at the top of the tube and the Konis are held in by a bolt through a hole drilled in the bottom of the strut tube.

About the only way to stop them coming loose is to use the strongest Loctite available. One of mine came loose after about 18 months. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Thanks & regards

Could you not;

Permenantly weld them in place either at the bottom or by welding a custom top cap on? Or putting a small weld on the bottom bolt itself to stop it turning. If you need to remove the bolt just grind the weld off.

If you wanted to be able to remove the strut easily the custom top cap could be held in place by nuts welded inside it or with self tapping screws if welding is not an available option.

Gary

That's not a bad idea, thanks. Sounds simple doesn't it?

Thanks & regards

Ken

Just be careful not to get too much heat into the insert.

Cheers
