P4 rear struts onto a 16 valve??

Are the rear struts from a P4 (K reg) the same as the ones fitted to late 16 valves (M reg)? I have a spare set of rears from my old P4 which are in excellent condition and I'd like to fit them on my M reg 16 valve. Will the handling be affected?

Hi

I think the rear springs are the same, but I do not know about the dampers.
