Just a thought. I think it would be a 1983-1987 2.0 Alfetta GTV for me - nice shape and a bit cheaper to run and maintain than the 80's GTV6. Second choice would be a 1988 1.7 Alfa Sprint - but they are so rare (only 2000 made) and therefore hard to find.

I'd probably have wound up with a 75 or a Sprint, because they'd have been the only other Alfas in my price range at the time. It would have depended which one showed up first and managed to fool me that it was reliable and rust-free.
While looking for a car I actually ran across an Alfa 90 Gold Cloverleaf at the local car fair, funny-looking dashboard, articulating front spoiler and all! Apparently there were only a couple of thousand of the Gold Cloverleaf 90s made, and I thought at the time that it would be a cheap way to own a RWD V6 Alfa Romeo.
But the 90 was too big, rare and ugly so I kept away.

In case that 33 did not exist, we would probably be driving Arna and in that alternative history it would be probably more succesfull then even Golf.

Hi,

If 33 did not exist then a Sud would be the best experience along with the boxer engine.

Alternatively a Julia (before Nuova models )would be one of my preference. A really nice car.

A world without 33s?

I'd still own my old Giulietta 116 or would have bought a 3.0 75 to play with, assuming I didn't buy that 4wd 164 that was on ebay last week! (Overpriced, but superb black 3.0 24v car)

Of course I could have gone to 'the other side' and bought a Lancia Delta...........

A 2ltr GTV, a 75 2.0 TS or a 146 2.0 TS with tyres that you can actually see from behind.

I wasn't explicitly looking for a 33. When I was 16 my father gave me the car to do up, as it was a trade-in at his garage in Brussels. Beforehand we looked at two other trade-ins knocking around - a rusty Alfa Sprint and a Porsche 924 Carrera Turbo. Unfortunately the Porsche wasn't really a trade-in, merely an 'acquired' car.

I think I would have settled for something newer and bigger - a 145 / 146 or 155. Possibly even a 164.

I would love either a Duetto Spider or Montreal - the latter is a real car. My specialist owns a white one and uses it very often - must be the most used Montreals in NL. He once dropped by to examine a problem with the 33 and took the Montreal. The sound and smell is to die for. The little lights on the doors, the interior...

A midnight blue 6C 2500 Villa d'Este is my goal though!

Not one of you have mentioned mine - what I will get in a couple of years...

Either:

a) an original Alfa Romeo 105 GTA, 1600 belting out about 170bhp and perhaps the most perfect styling of a mass produced coupe i've ever seen, or more likely

b) a 1968 Alfa Romeo 105 step-front Giulia/GTV with an Alfa 75 twin-spark bolted straight in. All you need to do is replace the 75 sump and oil pump with the original 105 one. Then you have a car with beautiful 60's styling and a lovely, reliable, unleaded, creamy, torquey, 8-valve, mid ranged, twin spark Alfa twin cam all for about AUD$20K!!

Can't wait - all i need is to get a place with a garage and i'm so there!
