Hi,

a friend of mine broke a cambelt on his boxer 16V engine.
i have removed the head from the engine, all 8 valves are bent.

before the incident, the engine was a bit noisy, we thought the culprits were the hydraulic lifters.
now everything is dismantled, i see that the camshafts are in good shape, and i wonder if there is a way to check if the hydraulic lifters work well or if i shall just replace them all?

is it possible to dismantle the lifters to clean the inside and check for worn gaskets?

best regards,
zp
