The radio in my Alfa 33 (type 1) picks up a lot of interference from the engine, and to date no autoelectrician or radio shop could come up with a solution to my problem. No capacitor, no arial swop, nothing could help. As is to be expected, the noise increases with engine revs. What is strange however, is that the noise comes and goes at constant revs, depending on the position of the accelerator pedal. If I put my foot down, the noise is much louder. When I am coasting (at the same high revs) the noise is barely audible. Any ideas on curing my problem? _________________ Alfa 33 (1985); Alfa Spider 2.0 TS (1997) |

No, it is just a straight car radio with cassette player and CD changer. And the problem was not always there. I did change the spark plug wires a number of years ago, but do not see any sign of a spark between the wires in the dark. The surprising thing to me is still the notable influence of the gas/accelerator pedal. Acceleration = more noise; coasting or deceleration (at the same revs) = less noise. I have been wondering if it may have to do with the earth cable between the body and the engine? _________________ Alfa 33 (1985); Alfa Spider 2.0 TS (1997) |
