Hi,

Does it do any harm to remove the throttle pedal stop bolt/plate on a 33 16v?, other than use more fuel!

Cheers,

John

John,

Good question - what happens when you do remove the bolt - do the butterflys go any further than horizontal - perhaps the cable just trys to stretch - can you see what limits the travel?

On 16v, maximum flip is vertical. I fiddled with it allready, I didn't look to much what stops it, but with normal pedal push it can't be rotated more then vertical.

Hi,

It definitely seems to go better. I'm sure the throttles are opening more than they did with the bolt (wound in) and plate, so the throttle pedal stop must be limiting the travel of the butterflys to less than vertical.

There is a much stronger induction roar, and the car pulls like a locomotive!

I was worried about stretching the cable etc etc.

My brother had a 33 s2 1.7 which had its throttle stop removed and thrown away at a service by an alfa specialist!!

Any other views guys??

If the standard positioning makes it open to vertical then theres nothing to be gained by removing it is there. I probably missed something here that says as standard it doesnt open fully.

On the twin carb 33s you can adjust the throttle cable where it reaches the engine so that the throttles will open fully. Then you adjust the throttle stop bolt so that you can press the accelerator only this far and no further, so nothing can be damaged when you stomp on the gas.

Stomping on the gas is hard in a RHD 33 though, because the accelerator pedal squeezes down right beside the wheel arch and gets stuck against the bits of carpet etc. Rolling Eyes
