Hello all, was going to have a quick go at stripping down the front assembly on my 33 sportwagon today after changing one of the backlights in the check panel but was unable to remove the caliper, I removed the little caps that cover the rubber hoses over the caliper sliders? A 6mm hex key just spun round and an 8mm allen wouldn't fit, Much as i hunted I didnt' seem to have a 7, is this the size required? Or is it a torx, or even a RIBE bolt? help appreciated as the squeak is really getting to me...

On my 33 16v with vented discs it is hex size 7mm, had mine homemade from number 8 with help of home tools, It was Sunday  .
I also bought a longer number 7mm hex extension for ratchet a few weeks after.

Hi,
Without a 7mm hex key you can try using a torx bit, but don't insist if it's stuck you will wreck the bolt. I once replaced pads using this trick without any problems.

Failing everything just take the whole caliper off - two 17mm bolts at the back, though you may need a bar as they tend to be torqued fairly tight. Then if fitting new pads push back brake piston with some kind of lever watching for excess fluid spilling out of filling reservoir.
