Hello all,

I am trying to get the best gearbox together for my new track car and have the following problem:

I have a 1.2 sud gearbox which are great for accelerating ratios, and I also have a 16v gearbox which I intend to rob for spares / parts. I also want to overhaul the 1.2 box at the same time. Can anyone suggest the best way to go and what to do by the way of overhauling a box. Someone suggested that the main bearing on the rear of the older box is best and the front main bearing on the 16v box is the best of the two. I have not driven the 1.2 box, as I only bought it recently but are there any good steps / parts to check and replace generally that I should be aware of?

Im my other track car I bought at 1.2 box and just put it into my 170 bhp car and it works like a dream. As I have some time with this new one I thought I would put together the best reasonable box I could whilst I have some time on my hands.

Any tips that you would have as to how to make the best job of overhauling / checking / combining the best of both boxes would be greatfully received.

Thanks,

Edward.
