Does any one have any idea what is the maximum engine BHP the standard 1.7 ie radiator can cope with?
I have an NSU Ro80 into which I have put a Mazda rotary engine, giving about 170 BHP in place of the original 115. I have slight overheating problems in traffic, especially if I go to Spain in the summer, even though I have fitted a large electric fan.
The Mazda engine is longer than the orginal engine, and rather too close to the radiator. I have been cosidering having a radiator "custom made", but these come pretty expensive.
I have just noticed that my Alfa radiator will fit into the Ro80, and is thinner. I think, being more modern, it may be more efficient, and it would be cheaper to buy than a custom made one. _________________ Dick Flower, Nr. Carcassonne. I suppose it would depend what you were planning to do about cooling - in our sud we have fitted a pair of 'proper' fans with huge air flow, and it works a treat, but as we arent at silly BHP, then I cant really be of a lot of use! _________________ (00=\°/=00) (00=\°/=00)
