My son has just bought himself another 33. It is a 1985 model body with a 16V motor and needs a bit of work on a few areas, the most urgent of which is the suspension. He plans to use it for an occasional club day at the track and generally fast road work.
What suspension is available for these? Koni yellows don't seem to be available any more (not sure about the rears but the fronts are unavailable) and neither are Koni reds. Bilstein don't make anything to suit. Basically that leaves Boge. I would not consider Monroes and Gabriels are even worse.
He has got some upgraded Koni reds in his other 33 and they are really good. Is there anything else worth getting without spending crazy money? What are the Boges like? I understood that they were pretty reasonable for everyday use but not really in the same class as Konis.
Any advice?

Hi,
When I was replacing the suspension (and other parts) on my 16V, I'd ring up places and ask for parts for the Alfa. Usual response was, sorry don't have that part for that car. But when armed with the correct part number, much better luck.
For the Koni part numbers

Of course they may no longer have the stock, but worth trying to ask for a part number rather than getting them to look up the part number. _________________ Scott Sander

Thanks Scott,
I have been getting all my suspension stuff through Bruce Dalziel at Leda Suspension here in Brisbane (I have a 75 and a 90) and Bruce upgraded the Koni reds on the young bloke's other 33, only because we couldn't get yellows at the time. Bruce is very capable, knows Konis and specializes in Alfas and he was the one who told me they were no longer available. He isn't too impressed as he still gets customers with Suds and 33s who want Konis.
Ah well, the 16V was going to be a bit of a project so we may just have to keep an eye on ebay, club classifieds and the wreckers.
Regards

Hi,
This is the place in Sydney where I got my Koni's.
https://www.whiteline.com.au/store/
In the keywords put "alfa" and then go to pages 6 and 7 of the 8 pages of results.
Maybe you could get the struts off a 16V and fit the Koni's to them. _________________ Scott Sander
