Cool!!
Was it an alfa savvy MOT garage?
My local MOT place is finally getting to know my 33 after 6 years. For the first 5 they couldn't open the bonnet, and would always say 'the cable's broken mate!' I'd then go out to the ramp to find someone fingering around the grill for a catch!
In 2004 and 2005, two different testers both managed to bugger the handbrake mechanism.
They seem to like it now, and it usually gets driven the 20 yards to the ramp at about 5000rpm
Enjoy your 33

On "my" IPO station, it depends on who´s testing it.
There´s a tester that has one 33, and he makes everything on his reach to get the car approved...
Whenever i get to the station, he generally, asks me to wait, while he finishes what he was doing, just to be he, doing the job...
However, he doesn`t "turn a blind eye", over some serious stuff. He failled my car 2 times, and i had to get it fixed and them retested...
But he is the only, to treat the car with care.
All the best

Finding a good MOT station is a nightmare... but one of those great things when you finally do !
One station I took the 33 to couldn't open the bonnet, as suggested above, and pulled the entire bonnet cable out with a pair of pliers! Through the sheeth and everything!

All you have to do is have five 33s. Then the local garage get to know them very well. Red P4 going in tomorrow. Grey one next month. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

My car gets serviced and tested by Boxer Motor Works in Ashford (Middlesex). They used to be known as 'Boxer Cars' and were set up by 'Nick & Pete' both ex-Alfa trained mechanics. They were the only alternative to the main dealer in Shepperton 15 years ago, then approx. 7 years ago, they changed the company name so they could advertise using the initials BMW - and guess what they specialise in now? Shame on them.
I still find when I collect my car after repair/MOT that the mileage is 15 - 25 miles higher than when it was dropped off. They always 'go for a drive' just for old times sake. Mine's the only 33 they look after now and one of only a hand full of Alfa's that they take care of. If anyone's interested in their details, send a pm and I'll pass on their number. _________________ paulb |

Thoroughbred cars in Shepperton were the main dealer until AR stripped them of their franchise (along with many others) some years back.
They still specialise in alfa, with ar trained mechanics, and i think keep a parts stock.
My brother has used them in the past when he worked around there, and was pretty happy.
