One of my headlamp washers has stopped working (drivers side) but I can't work out why - I've had a quick look and all the pipes seem to be in place, I tried to pull out the washer itself from the bumper but the fixing seemd to be tearing so I've put it back in.

Is there a specific way to remove it and is there a common fault with the washers that I should investigate?

Thanks
Rich

Just guessing (because there`s no 33 in here with headlamp washers)

If both stoped working, it can be the relay. If just one, it can be clogged...

Hope it helps

oops, I missed off the p didn't I? I wonder what headlams are??

Well spotted bobbber, that car has no engine (or wheels, bonnet, doors, interior, gearbox, front suspension) - its my donor car for my 16v conversion (which incidentally has made very little progress other than the accumulation of loads of parts). Has that Twin Spark blown up yet?? Bloody 145 failed mot on wishbones (I think GTV has a similar appetite for them)

Hi

Think the headlight washers have a nut holding them to the bumper (large plastic one) with a metal clip behind it. And the washer also clips to the water pipe.

Think the front suspension arms can be pretty cheap. http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/ has them for the Fiat Marea for £11+vat, and think they are the same as 155 ones. Not sure about 145.

All the best

Keith

Hi all,

Keith is right - the washer unit passes through the bumper and has a big plastic nut holding it in place with the square metal washer. The difficult job can be getting the water pipe off the end of the washer unit. You have to lift a plastic 'clippy thing' over a retaining tooth, always thinking that the 'clippy thing' is going to snap, then pull it off the end of the washer unit. The washer unit has the block with the jets on it sat on the bumper and a reinforced plastic tube passes through the bumper and then connects onto the right angled clippy thing. When you have taken the connection off, undone the plastic nut and removed the washer the headlight washer unit can then be eased out of the bumper. I guess then a good soaking is some hot water or maybe drain unblocker might work. I would also try blowing as hard as possible blowing into the jet holes. Also try clearing them out with a pin. I use a pin to angle the jets into the right place for the windscreen - but can remember if it is exactly the same for the headlights. Thinking about it - it may be worth doing that before trying to remove the whole unit from the bumper.

See how you get on.

Edward.

Hope that
