Alfasud 1.7Ti Hillclimb, Sprint, Circuit or Trackday Car
Shell:
Alfasud 3 door Ti shell with full roll cage with door bars, Good OMP seat (big enough for my wide arse) and 6 point 'Luke' harness. All possible weight removed from interior leaving essentials only. 3 Gallon tank. Brake bias adjuster. Varley battery mounted in passenger foot well. With the exception of the windscreen, all the glass has been replaced with 4mm polycarbonate. Doors have been 'gutted', and all the bracing on the bonnet has been removed to reduce weight. Suspension lowered and stiffened (top adjustable?). Custom built aluminium binnacle housing rev counter, oil pressure, water temperature, fuses, kill switches, etc... Lights and indicators have all been removed along with appropriate wiring.
Engine
Very reliable 1721cc 8v engine from a late 33 with solid lifters instead of hydraulic. A pair of Dellorto 40s and revised cooling are about the only modifications. Gearbox is a very sought after early 1.2Ti 'box. Rolling road tuning including rejetting carbs was carried out by Sigma of Gillingham, Dorset just over 2 years ago. Other changes/tweaks include a Facet competition fuel pump, rev limiter with launch control (button not wired in, but supplied and with instructions) and sequential shift light system.
Tyres & Wheels
Converted from bolts to studs, with one set 14" 5 spoke revolutions with AROC series Class F spec rubber (probably past their best I would have thought) and a set of 13" 4 spoke revolutions with used Michelin slicks (we get ours from Sticky-Slicks.co.uk at £15 each), and some spare slicks not on rims.
This car has been used by us for the last 3 years at Gurston Down Speed Hill Climb, Colerne Sprint and Llandow also soome track days. It has been a great entry to speed events for us and purchase of a new car forces sale of this much loved (by us and the spectators – it generates great affection!) Alfasud.
There is a video of this car at Gurston from April of this year taken by the good folks at Brayspeed: http://www.brayspeed.co.uk/assets/films%20for%20web/Lynsey%20Allen%20785.wmv
Bad points – No major rust, the shell is structurally sound, but…. the scuttle panel needs repairs as could the rear arches – one from rot, the other from a ding from before we bought it, but neither are major. Most of it was hidden from view by the body kit we removed last year. Temporary repairs to the arches were done, but they could do with being sorted. Repair sections for the windscreen and arches are all available from Just Suds (justsuds.co.uk)
You can view the car just North of Wells, Somerset.

Hi Mark
Sorry this isnt an offer to buy (wife says Ive got too many cars already).
What have you replaced the old sud with? And are you going to continue
hillclibing?
Also is that blue bulge on the roof (top pic) an aerodynamic aid??
