|
|
Trying to find an alternative part for 60572375 from another Steyr Puch system isn't going particulary well (See my other post) so I'd like to investigate getting one machined up - initial thoughts are perhaps aluminium, or nylon or Delrin or maybe a nice piece of Leerdamer unless anyone has any other suggestions.
Considered getting a batch moulded using a similar material to the original to prevent unwanted vibrations, however this isn't looking feasable.
BUT, I need one to create an engineering drawing: does anybody have a scrap example I can have, or a good one I can buy |

Exact replica made out of solid material wont be good because of 2 reasons.
1. Rubber one streches a bit when mounting.
2. Chasis mounts usualy unweld from chasis or even crack chasis with rubber mounted, imagine what would happen if you would to use solid mount. _________________ Tino Vatavuk

H Tino.
Mmmm Ok, thanks for the real world feedback and the PM, certainly food for thought and I'm not in any way dismissing what you are saying.
I understand the chassis mounts (And the chassis) aren't robust, however intuitively I'm feeling that the mount just holds a bearing, therefore no/little force can be transmitted through it. Therefore I'm thinking the original choice of material was chosen with a vibration damping perspective high on the agenda.
Can you think of any material thet will lend itself to machining that would have the properties that we are after? |

Hi
The viscous coupling needs to move around a fair amount and have a fairly strong mount as it is trying to move and twist as it tries to lock the front and rear wheels to the same speed (and when cornering they certainly go at different speeds).
All the best

you definitely need some kind of rubber or similar mounting in there somewhere otherwise youre viscous coupling will not be attached to the floor for very long,
there are going to be forces there because the vc is basically a clutch so there will be differences in torque causing forces to be transmitted to the mountings. _________________ brum brum |

Hi
I have one floating around (still with the prop shaft) and some dead mounts. I am just outside Stafford if that is easier.
All the best
