hi all
i`ve noticed there is a rubber mount on the top of the springs on the rear suspension, can this be removed or do i cut the springs - i am weary of doing this though any help appreciated

I think the rubber is the bump stop. If you took this off and you grounded your suspension you'd get a big thumping noise.

Not sure about cutting your springs either as i'm guessing they wouldn't seat properly?

Steede you need to buy proper lowering springs for rear if you just shorten original ones they will be still too soft
I think you can order/buy rear one separately from OMP or Sparco at fair price?

I remember seeing a similar thread to this somewhere else, which advised not to lower the rear of a P4 as all the 4x4 mechanicals will sit too low to the ground & will be more vulnerable to knocks/damage?

Can't remember exactly so might have mis-quoted...

the springs i`ve got are quite stiff and they are coiled tight at at one end , i was going to cut one of these off and i think the clearance for the diff should be ok - its not that low , as standard the raer is very high you could drive over a lampost and the diff would not hit it!!!!!

alfissimo You're right I wrote few times that it isn't smart to lower P4. When you do that you put even more stress on 4x4 shafts and mounts because you're bending whole system even more then it originaly is.
Who ever drove P4 empty and fully loaded knows knows how much earlier knocking begins and how much harder can it get.
Anyway since there are no P4 in mint condition anymore and even AR has given up on producing spares for P4 and Stedee is obviously set his mind on doing something that never should be done so earlier failure of 4x4 system parts is least of his worries right now.

its not good to cut springs as you'll mess up the spring rate, you should look on ebay for lowering springs. i got a full set of 35mm spax lowering springs for £35 on ebay.
