Sorry, my fault, I didn't listen to the noise properly - I thought it was that tapping noise from the electromagnetic coupling I heard constantly, but actually it's from the front of the engine, think the cambelt has gone
Just spoken to Roger at Peak Alfa, he says the cheapest way is to find a 16v head? |

Not off to a good start are we Dan! Don't drive it.
I'll pop over and have a look sometime next week!? When are you about?
Does the clicking get faster when you drive faster, or only when you rev it?! (i.e. with the speed of the wheels, or the speed of the engine?!)
Could be something as simple as a loose exhaust manifold.... might not be though.

thats good advice from bobber, dont drive it.
if it is tapping from the head check the timing and readjust it if its out, you might be lucky. if it has bent a valve it will be cheaper just to replace the valve rather than get an head and its not that bad to change the valves if you have to take the heads off anyway which means taking the engine out btw _________________ brum brum |

Bobbber to the rescue. Let's hope it's just a loose manifold. Without burning your hands (very easily done), check for exhaust gases exiting where the exhaust joins the engine block. Fingers crossed that it's as simple as this. I remember this happening on my first 33 and thought I'd damaged the engine, but my step-father put me right. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. I meant "don't drive it because every time you do something seems to break!" Only joking.
I'll get in there and have a good look and listen.
I think most people who have owned 33s have thought their engine has broken when it's only the exhaust manifold blowing. Common thing.
Reminds me when someone didn't want any parts from me - until I got out a set of 8v exhaust manifold gaskets... then he nearly ripped my hand off!

I'm sure it's the extra bit that stops it falling off so often.
