1.7 8v with weber 40s.
On the right hand carb there is a fuel inlet (taking fuel from the pump via the left hand carb) and a fuel return (the upper one and the narrower of the two). Where is the fuel return supposed to go to? (back to the tank?) Any reason why it can't be blocked off or is it needed to regulate fuel flow?

Thanks, Rich

Yes you can just block it off on a 33 with the standard pump. Though if the needle valves aren't 100% the enginre might start flooding

Thanks Gary, That makes sense. It is the standard mechanical pump and I've just reconditioned the carbs including a new needle valve assembly - so I should be ok.

Is there any particular way to block off the outlet? I've just fitted new hoses and clips to the rest of the fuel system.

Hi

One way that seems to work is to have a short section of pipe from the carb (about 1") and then put a bolt into the pipe (fairly tight fit) and then jubilee clip it in place

All the best

Keith

the engine is going into a mid engined car I'm building. Due to this configuration there are a lot of cable and pipes going up and down the car and I want to keep things as simple as possible. If the fuel return pipe isn't really needed it's one less thing to worry about - I could end up having to reconnect it in the future though (It's supposed to go back to the tank isn't it?)
