A friend of mine needs to fix a problem on his 16v (hole in block) and has a spare 8v block - anyone know if they're the same? I think they're different but if anyone knows otherwise please let me know. (I know the pistons are different - I presume the exhaust ports must be different though as the exhaust manifolds aren't interchangeable without modification).

Done a lot of work lately on comparing 16V block with other 8V blocks.
Only difference I have found so far is on earlier 1700's then you will have the stud for the single cam belt tensioner. Single carb models will not have the drilling for the thermostat but have put it in later before now.
Hope this helps. |
