I have just changed my browser from Internet Explorer 7 to Mozilla Firefox.

For the last 2 days I have had problems logging in to the Forum. My login and password are no longer remembered, although they are on other sites, and when I enter them manually I am just returned to the Forum Index, not logged in. Today I tried 4 times, and only succeeded after I closed and reopened the browser.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Any ideas out there?

I have always used the second.

However, just now, I was automatically logged in via both links (after choosing forum link from the home page)

Maybe you had the CAPS lock on or something. There is FAQ page that tries to help resolving log in and other problems.

I still have the same problem. Cap lock is not on. Doesn't matter which link I use.

I just tried about 10 times and even got a new password (which didn't work either the first 3 times). I also closed and re-opened the browser about 3 times.

I'm going to try reverting to Internet Explorer, but I changed default browser to Mozilla because IE was persistently crashing on some sites.

At least I seem to get on eventually, but can't spot anything I did differently when I do. Sometimes I'm automatically logged on as soon as I go to the site, if not it takes about 10 minutes of trying.

RE ie7, check you have all updates and security addons installed. Looks like you might be having a problem with stored form data and passwords.
Click on tools (top right of IE7)
internet options (bottom of dropdown menu)
click on the content tab (top middle)
in the AutoComplete section, click on Settings (1 up from bottom)
change to your prefered settings and follow instructions on deleting auto complete history, as in..
General tab (top left)
in browsing history, click delete (1 down from top section)
click on delete forms (4th down)
click on delete passwords (5th down)

Only do this if you can remember all you passwords for sites and things you log on as this will wipe them all. Hopefully that will clear out any errors. Good luck

I think I fixed it.
I went to Tools>Options>Privacy>Show Cookies and removed cookies for Alfa Pages.
Then visited this Forum, logged in and told Mozilla to remember login details when the dialog box appeared.
Now I am automatically logged in every time, as before with Explorer.
I guess the cookies for login were loaded badly the first time.
