P4 exhaust manifold section, is it the same as a 2wd 16v one?
I have a P4 which needs the manifold section, i thought a 2wd one would fit but i've just been told it won't... |

This is my understanding... someone will correct me if they think I'm wrong.
It depends on whether your car is CAT'd or not.
There are three types of 16v manifold :
1. Fits all pre-cat 16v cars.
2. Fits cat fitted P4s
3. Fits cat fitted non-P4s
Therefore, I think if you have a manifold from a 2 wheel drive pre-cat 33, it will fit all UK p4s.
Anyone?

Ah, that makes a lot of sense, thank you!
My P4 is pre-cat and when i fitted the previous manifold it was second hand at the time and i was told it came from a 2wd 16v. The guy that just told me they were different is someone i generally trust to be right about these things, hence my confusion.
Should have known it wouldn't be straight forward with Alfa
How's your car coming along, last i remember you'd just picked up a P4? |

Did you know there are at least two designs of series 2 rear light cluster? I have them both on the same car. They look the same on the outside of the car, but the bits that hold the bulbs are different. And not even in an obvious improvement sort of way.
Alfa also manage to use a slightly different plug for the sump drain, gearbox drain and gearbox filler AND if you buy a new sump drain plug now, they've revised it so it doesn't have a magnet any more.
There's that other thread in here which mentions changes to the boxer engine valve gear over the years, in which it's clear that Alfa couldn't leave a reliable solution alone - they kept changing and weren't satisfied until the 145/146 boxer lifters were being machined from cheese. _________________ "Now, all that is left to do ... is wait that something else brokens, to fix up again!" |

Bobber you're right.
Whenever someone asks me I tell them you can't because of two things.
1st CATed FWD 16v pipe goes through center chasis where prop shaft is on P4.
2nd Allways forget there are factory nonCated P4s out there.
Obviously you can allwas fit any P4 collector on 16v but will have slight problem with pipes after that going to silencer:) _________________ Tino Vatavuk
