And so it should.
This site is so much more user friendly and "for" the member.
We need to persuade more..... |

You wont have to do much persuading to be honest
It can be painful on AO at times... |

I can't see the attraction of it really.
Obviously it's more busy with more threads etc, but if everyone that was on AO was here it would have the same feel just with little to no moderation (I don't think I've ever seen a post deleted) |

It had its merits, primarily the volume of people on it so you'd get an answer to even the most random technical question fairly sharpish.
I met a lot of really nice people (and more Irish boxer owners than I could ever have imagined) off the back of AO, but the owners/mods/whoever seem determined to suffocate it. |

I have always preferred this site. Maybe not as many answers, but apart from Ian M's , generally better ones. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

where did my (earlier) post go?
Anyway, got banned off AO today.
There is a big fight going on over there with the mods taking a good bashing.
Strangely they (AO mods) have asked for peoples' suggestions and opinions - but they are not getting mine - as I am banned.
I have been a naughty school boy expressing some (good and bad) opinions and AO have taken their ball away for the next 24 hours.
Looks like I am going to be spending more time on Alfa Pages before too long. _________________ The faster the better. |

Anyone fancy going on AO and asking why I am banned for 24 hours.
Seeing as they are debating the issue (post) that I started it is quite weird that they are all debating the issue and I am not allowed to join in.

Okay, I've had a look and it does look like a bit of a mess.
It's probably gotten too big and political.
With 100,000 members the site suddenly becomes worth money to outsiders?

Jeeeeeezus, what a mess AO is in at the mo. 100,000 members and yet out of 150 or so sud/sprit/33 members they have kicked out 3 of them and more to move away, I guess percentage terms that's quite a few, or maybe they are conspiring to get rid of the less popular marks of the Alfa cars and the ones that have no second hand parts market they can advertise too............we are all lemmings oh and Ed I have a 16v flywheel if your interested seeing as it started the debate in the 1st place _________________ PHAT 33 |

Oggie,
Thank you very much for the offer. I am in fact after a non injection one for the pending 1800 engine build. The 16v ones have the addition of the pulse generator, which is quite heavy. A 1.5 / 1.7 carb car would be ideal.
Thanks for the offer though. _________________ The faster the better. |

wombat,
you are nawty
I got banned because I had a disagreement with one of the mods, where I was explaining why one of the key players (Shrew), who was now fed up with the over bearing treatment by the mods, had chosen to leave. I did express an opinion or two (not in a rude or aggressive way) about why things such as over zealousness by the mods were damaging the spirit of the forum as I understood it.
He said that I should not say such things as that without having any substantiation and that I was being badly behaved.
I said in effect, oh, don't worry I can just cut and paste all of the substantive comments, from my PM file and put them up on the forum in support of my claims, including my dialogue with him.....
At that point, the whole of my post got deleted, I immediately got some sort of 10 point infraction notice and the next moment my access had been stopped and I then got a message that I had been 'disconnected' or whatever, for, can't quite remember what it said, but something along the lines of 'disrespecting a mod'. _________________ The faster the better. |

Hello Kev,
I am banned (on AO) until 11.00pm....
Don't know whether to go back in an make a bit of trouble.
I do feel quite harshly treated by Paul.O.
Was trying to make a genuine point to him about the way people were treated.
Quite fancy going in and explaining a few home truths and then just waiting to get properly banned _________________ The faster the better. |
