|
|
Probing the myseries under the bonnet of my latest 33 ('93 Imola) I have found these connectors hanging disconnected.
I thought they might be for optional Alfa Control, this car does not have it. The other 33 has Alfa Control, but doesn't seem to have these connectors.
Does anyone know what they are for?
LHS :- White 6 pin connector, 2 rows of 3 pins
Colours :- Grey/green, Violet/black, Yellow/red, Grey, White/black, Grey/yellow.
RHS :- White connector same as above
Black connector, 2 female spade lugs in "T" form.
Colours :- Brown/white, Black. _________________ Dick Flower, Nr. Carcassonne. '94 Trofeo 1.4 ie (F), '93 Imola 1.3/1.4 ie (now for breaking) (F), '91 1.7 ie (GB)(spare car), '86 Sprint 1.5 QV (F). '87 VW Syncro camper (F), '73 NSU Ro80 (F), '99 Fiat Seicento (F) |

Hi
Without going through the wiring diagrams my guess would be that the 2 wire connector is for an oil level warning sensor (on the dip stick) while the other pair are for electrically adjustable headlights.
All the best

Hi
Just checked the wiring diagrams.
The 2 6 wire connectors are definatly for the headlight adjustment (listed as only for German market cars).
Black connector doesn't seem to be the oil level sensor connector. As the wiring diagrams are a bit long we might need a piccy and a better idea of the location to identify it, although a T connector with a brown wire and a black wire is the one for the radiator cooling fan.
All the best

Headlight adjusters sounds OK for the 6 pin connectors.
The 2 blade connector is the wrong shape for oil level sensor as fitted on the other car (top of dipstick), and is on the opposite (RH) side.
The connector for the radiator fan is also on the RHS, has heavier wires, and is connected.
The black tubing for the mystery wires is about 50cm long, and comes out of the LH end of the black flexible conduit running under the inlet manifold.
This shows both spare conns on LHS of engine bay.

Hi
Given the position it could be the coolant level sensor wire (with the sensor not fitted to your car). That would be an orange / white wire and a back wire with a T arrangement connector.
All the best

Keith.
Yes, it's the connector for the non-installed coolant level sensor. I found it tucked away under the expansion tank on the other car. The brown/white I quoted is dirty orange/white. I should have sussed it out, but the 2 cars are not near each other, and I was running back and forth between them with scraps of paper.
Thanks to all for your help.
Now changing the cambelts, probably tensioners also. Just about due, with 118,000 km on the clock.
I guess they were changed at around 60,000, as per, as one plastic cover is cracked due to overtightening the screws, and a couple of washers are missing.
The car came with a pristine, unmarked service booklet, and a Green air filter which has never been oiled. _________________ Dick Flower, Nr. Carcassonne.
