Here is a question that all of you must have wondered at one point.
How is the front engine mount rubber affixed to the metal part? Is it stuck, glued, bonded, melted, voodooooood on there or what?
Is this process repeatable once the ruber has come away from the metal.
It just seems such a waste replacing the whole thing when this happens as it is in good condition apart from this.
Does the front engine mount prevent much lateral movement, seeing as the whole weight of the engine is on it and the 2 bolts are up in it? _________________ x2 33 16v

I assume that it's vulcanised on there.......a process where the rubber is heat welded to the metal........I think!! |

can this be done cheaply on a front engine mount, or would it be cheaper to buy a new one? Just seems a waste, as apart from coming apart, all is good. _________________ x2 33 16v

I've already asked Paul he wants to keep them for himself, which I totally understand, I will let my fingers do the walking. I did some reading on Vulcans, and it doesn’t look that hard a process, probably cost an arm and a leg. _________________ x2 33 16v

My mate has just bought a new one for about £25 but the only place he could get a new one is Justsuds. Alfa shop have sold their stock to them and when I bought a new one of Alfashop they said they couldnt get any more and that was only Aug last year.
You would have thought that you could bond it with a glue or No More Nails but I bet the key is going to be making sure its perfectly clean. I think I would try some small holes and pins aswell through the base plate and up into the rubber to try and increase the surface area it was bonding onto.
