Hi
As i lurch from one problem to another (ah the joys of alfa ownership)
I thought while I was sorting one problem out in the engine bay
I would tidy the wiring and clean all the electric connections.
Have done so, so good connections and earths.
Battery is 18 months old.
Alternator is kicking out the right voltage with no "high" peaks
- checked by me and my multimeter
- checked by mechanic and expensive diagnostic
So alternator and regulator appear ok,
No other gremlins - fuses, switches, functions ok etc.
Problem is battery is keeping charge but bubbling acid
Which I clean away with water, rags, WD40 etc
BUT why is it doing it?
I have had batteries fail in the past with dead cells,
Not that here.
Any clues before the acid gets at the delicate 33 metal.

Perhaps you should replace the battery!

Just replace it. I've replaced two batteries on my 33 since 2000, mainly during the winter months. At least your 33 isn't the problem, unlike mine at the moment (MOT problems)... _________________ Hugh B
