|
|
I know that i have a clear coat on my Biano Argento (goldy silver) 33. What should i use to get the scratches out of the clear coat. They look like the sort of scratches you get on clear plastic, hence the clear coat. Or is it just best to give it a good waxing. I also need to patch up some battle damage (aka someones towbar) on the bumper. How would this be best done. Should it be primed then painted or done another way. Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Dave
PS I want a really shiny turnout, no matter how long it takes. _________________ Looking for a type 2 33QV in NL |

You need to prime the bumber with Etching Primer (a special surface preperation for aluminium, plastic etc.) otherwise the paint will just peel straight off. Then just paint as normal with a 2 pack paint. You can get the exact colour of you base coat mixed and put into an areosol at many paint shops in the UK so I would imaging you can in NZ too |

Hi there.if the lacqure is coming off,if your very carefull and litely sand down the bonnet all over, you mite be aball just to relacquer it.but dont go through the base coat.it can be done but you have to be very carefull.what you need to do is respray it.if you cant spray,it should cost you between £50-£100 to spray clear over base.thats the base coat and clear. hope that helps good luck john

Dave.
With clear over metallic you can sand with 1000_1500 wet and dry and finish with hand rubbing compound.Take it slowly as you dont want to go through the clear coat or it will be patchy for ever more! If you can borrow a proper buffing machine then use machine compound as its finer.Keep the buff moving otherwise you can burn the paint surface.
Good luck Eddie |
