ok still smelling fuel in my car! there is a very small amount of petrol running down the middle of the back of my tank, i assume this is due to rustcausing a small hole in the tank? or could there be another reason for this that doesn't involve me needing a new tank? (he says with not much hope Razz)

If i do need a tank which i think i do, does anyone have one for sale or know of where to get one? i had found one not too far away from me but as soon as i said i was happy to pay what he was asking for it he stopped replying(an odd sales tactic, though i'm sure a good reason for it) so if anyone can help i would be very greatful!

thanks
Charlie

Hi Charlie, it could be 1 of the hoses coming off the top of the tank, but i agree it is most likely to be the tank. I have 1 if you need it.

POR-15 tank sealer mate. Sealed mine in a weekend using that stuff.

Hasn't leaked since.

I might have to buy some of the por-15 sealant, I have a now perfect 6mm hole on the underside of my tank , there is no rust on my tank I think one of the baffle's spot welds has given way, it dumped a full tank of tesco's finest fuel on thursday evening Rolling Eyes. I tried a petrol patch and followed the instructions to the letter and the Fookin thing didn't work. So another 5 liter's of fuel over my driveway. I have now this afternoon used some petrol putty stuff after plugging the hole with a 5mm rivet nut and bolt. It better work as the car is now due for the wide arch body kit fitting at the mender's.

Hi

6 mm hole is rather big one. Better have it patched with solder and then apply POR15 sealer.

Soldering the tank doesnt involve any explosion danger as welding hides.

Mine is soldered at the 16 baffle spot welds and fully treated with POR15 inside and outside. It has been around 8 months since the repair and all is OK.

Regards,
