Going to see a car at the weekend and as I'm a total spanner knumpty was looking for some expert advice.
What and where should I look, any areas of weakness that could be expensive repairs?????
I know the check the oil, blue smoke and make sure everything electrical works routine with a kick of the tyre!
Thanks
Bob

Front strutt pans and bearings can be a problem area.
The pans can rust so need looking at, this is the bit that the bottom end of the spring sits in.
The bearings if worn out will make a knocking sound when steering from lock to lock.
Make sure you give it a good drive and listen carefully for any rattles, knocks, whines, rumblings etc which you wouldnt expect to hear in a healthy car.

Check for rust under the sills and around the jacking points. Make sure you can get all the gears okay.
