I'm off to see my welding man later and he may well say it would be easier to weld in a new scuttle panel rather than repair the existing one.

Has anyone got a stripped or partially stripped shell haning around at the moment.

The panel I need is the one on a S3 (it may be the same on earlier cars I don't know) that runs underneath the screen and holds the wiper spindles and the clip sockets for the plastic grille.

Obviously it needs to have very little corrosion.

Just sounding out at the moment, I'll know more tomorrow.
