This is the 3rd wheel bearing on the drivers side RHS.
The other 2 failed with pitting on the race.
I have owned 4 33's and have replaced several and never had any problems until this one.
I always replace the whole lot, inner and outer and take out the old race and press in the new one and pack the bearings correctly and check again after 100 miles or less.

After I have tightened the wheel nut and checked there is no play, I put the wheel on and got someone to move the wheel whilst I checked for movement from behind and can confirm the stub axle is not moving. I can see the drum moving in relation to the stub axle, due to the clonking I moved the drum with a bit more force and when it moves there is a clonk.

Can I be 3rd time unlucky, although a different problem.
Is there anything that I could have done to cause this?
When I tapped out the old race I did score the drum a little.
Is it time for new drums?

Obviously you fit new seals, but has the seal worn a groove in the shaft, which could damage the new seal or cause it to allow water to leak in?

check out the pic

I measured the bearings and the new one is slightly smaller than the old one.
I didn't measure the stub axle because it looks fooked to me.

Anyone got a stub axle for sale?
I'm not sure if they're sided but its the drivers side O/S RHS

Looks a bit cream crackered, doesn't it?

My Manual calls it a "Stem Pin". They don't seem to be handed.

I got a replacement from John from JustSuds at SAD, thanks John, It was from a ser 2 and I checked Eper and it says there all the same. I just fitted it, took me an hour, I am no mechanic, I used a wire brush to clean the surfaces and applied a little copper grease.
I couldn't do my usual tightening method as the thread had a couple of dented parts which made the nut a little tight.
I tightened up until there was no play with the wheel on, removed the wheel, peened over the nut and put the bearing cover on.

IT STILL CLONKS, any ideas? Sad

I will reomve the wheel spacers, then the studs, if it still does it leaves the panhard rod.
