Hi,
I will be restoring a 91 p4 over the coming months (years ). Hopefully I've secured a good solid shell to use in place of my current rusty one.
However as a back up can any one point me to a supplier of replacement panels i.e. all four jacking points, sills, front panel, rear panel and a pair of front wings.
Cheers

Nice one, a good start. Thanks for the links. Do you know if relacement jacking points have ever been available? |

Excellant, so justsuds are still around then? I saw Phil Snelling's sud project on ebay the other week. Looked good but was top money |

Congratulations to you. What a challenge !
Im doing exactly the same as you are on a 94 P4.
Bodyshell without rust (only dents on the roof from the goats in the barn were I found it), Engine look okay (apparently it runs well) and the Recarus are in a near new condition.
Now the biggest problems:
Gearbox is broken - apparently the car stoped suddenly after having changed from 3rd to 2nd gear, so this is a major problem to be fixed - or to get a used gearbox from the scrap yard.
Fuel tank is very rusty. It's been standing without petrol in it for a few years, so you can imagine what it looks like. It's got no holes so I'm thinking to give it the POR15 treatment. BUT: How the hell do I get the fuel sender unit out of the tank ???? It's not srewed, it seems to be welded ?!
If anyone has some ideas to share, please do so. I'd be glad for every suggestion to get the unit out of the tank.

Hi, the fuel sender unit should be held in by a number of 10 or 8 mm bolts in a circle around it.
I know someone here in England who has a gearbox for sale. Postage might be expensive though.

Thanks for you reply's.
Paul:
That's what I thought to before I took of the tank, but then I saw the spotwelds. Now I'm not sure how to remove the unit.
I'll see if I can put the picture somewhere on here.
(HELP - can't get picture into here - how's it work?)
BigAl: Spa sounds good, but it's future for me without my P4 on the road. This year's big expense is the Techno Classica in Essen. Gotta check the Alfa Romeo stand. _________________ Red 94 1.7 16V SW P4 |

I think you have to upload a picture to a website like 'flickr' or 'photobucket' and put the link here and use the img button at either end of the link.
(photobucket already does this for you somewhere, so you can just paste and copy the link with the img tags at either end)
How many Alfa 33s are there in Germany
I have friends in Graftschaft Gelsdorf near Bonn who we visit sometimes. I think it might be a rarer sight to see classics on the road in Germany than here in England [/url] _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

Here's the picture. Hope this works.

Gritsop: Thanks for all the helpful informations on the net. Checked your resto guide for the fuel tank, but the P4 Tank looks totaly different, and the sender unit seems not to be removable.
Paul: Not sure how many 33's there are in Germany. I've tried to find out allready but without success. Maybe I'll find out something at the Techno Classica.
As I visit my family in England once a year, I must say thet there are indeed a lot more historical cars on the road in England. I think in the last 10 years I've seen maybe 2 or 3 33's on the road (without counting mine) here in Germany. |

It appears that the sender unit is of the screw in type. There are 3 notches that probably release the sender unit - there is no way that the sender unit can't be removed.
I would soak the sender unit in WD40 for a couple of minutes and then carefully try to unscrew the plastic ring tapping it with something that wont break the notches eg. rubber hammer.

After some time away I had some more time now to look towards my restauration project.
Got my POR 15 Fuel Tank restauration kit last week and want to start of a.s.a.p.
Now I have some worry about how to pre-clean the inside of the tank because of the baffle plate. Its in the centre of the tank and doesnt leave any room at all to clean up the room behind it.
Anyone with similar experience ?
Also, has anyone ever swapped a complete aircon against the regular one? _________________ Red 94 1.7 16V SW P4 |
