Chaps
My standard wheels are the Speedline ten hole fake split rims. My bolts have the 60 degree taper and about 27mm of thread length. Judging by the marking on the thread about 12mm of that goes into the hub.
I bought a spare set of wheels for winter tyres, namely this style:
The problem is the wheel centree seems thicker* and I'm concerned I'm not getting enough thread going into the hub.
Could someone with this type of wheel take a bolt out for me and measure the length of the threaded section please and confirm it's a tapered bolt not a round or flat seated one. I'd like to get some longer bolts ordered asap before the really cold weather (and possibly snow) comes.
Or am I being daft and this wheel doesn't require a 60 degree taper bolt but one with a different profile (the wheels have steel inserts for the bolts and I could half convince myself the seats are not a flat taper but a dish, only half convince mind).
Thanks.
* Actually two of my 'new' wheels are made Speedline the other two by another maker (some Italian name) and the latter are noticeably thicker that the Speedline ones. _________________ '93 Black 33 1.7 16v |

Hi Jeremy,
I have a set of bolts 30 odd 30mm bolts and 8x36mm for you car if you want them, you could put 2 long bolts on if you wanted the added security, they are rusty but do clean up with a wire brush. Im only 7 miles away if you want to pick them up? completly free of course because Im good like that . _________________ PHAT 33 |

Your a star, and actually I'm closer than that because I'm in Liss.
Can you PM me your mobile number please? I'm out tomorrow (day trip to Norwich for work) but maybe I could pop over some time on Saturday?
I love this forum!!!! _________________ '93 Black 33 1.7 16v |

Yup, bolts collected from Iain (Oggie) and the winter tyres are now on the car.
Anyone who regularly uses their car in winter needs a set of these. It's not just about snow. The additional grip, both cornering and accelerating and braking are really noticeable. I live down a muddy country lane and had to brake suddenly yesterday evening and the car pulled up with not a hint of a skid. _________________ '93 Black 33 1.7 16v |
