Wondering if cheap oil pressure gauges are inaccurate at lower oil pressures.
maybe it becomes less linear below 15 psi.
Mine still reads 10 psi with the 16v oil pump.
At around 900 rpm it reads 10 psi, but a small increase in revs, say to approx 1200 rpm it jumps to 30+ psi at hot idle.
Maybe I need to try with a better quality gauge. Racetech, Smiths or Auto meter or something.
SPA a bit out of my pricerange
I'm not sure if I have 10 psi at hot idle or the gauge is inaccurate at lower revs/pressures. _________________ S2 33 1988 1.7 QV

been reassured on the oil forum that these small boxer engines don't need much OP at idle. no load, have loads of flow and also splash a lot of oil around the crankcase when spinning so not too worry.
clearances can't be very tight as its a flexy block especially at higher revs.
Just go for the 10w40 oil. less shear and 40wt should be plenty with the higher flow 16v pump. _________________ S2 33 1988 1.7 QV
