I had aluminium pulleys made up through AH Motorsport and then had the anodised black as it hardens the outer face , not cheap but they won't fail like yours have. _________________ PHAT 33 |

It looks likely that the tensioner pulley bearing siezed, and then the pulley was cooked by the heat generated by the belt sliding over it.
Fitting a metal pulley would not save the engine in that case, as the belt would eventually overheat and break anyway.
Easily removable covers to allow frequent visual inspections might be a good idea. _________________ Dick Flower, Nr. Carcassonne. The reason for alloy pulley's is they don't wear nor do they suffer from the heat cycles making the plastic brittle over time they also dissipate heat better to avoid the bearing becoming dry then prone to wear. _________________ PHAT 33 |

Just to be clear, it was the idler that failed, the belt then rubbed through the plastic cover and snapped _________________ P4 33......Fratellino (black)
