Hi folks, Newbie here. Just thought I'd let you know that I've just picked up a nice 33 1.7IE after a few years in the wilderness of non alfa motoring. A question or two if you don't mind though. It runs a bit rough when warm (Sounds like plugs fouling-missing that sort of thing) and fuel consumption is a bit on the high side I think. Any Ideas? Gladly appreciated. Oh by the way previous Alfa's included 164 and 75 hope this one lives up to them! |

I was at a car yard today looking at a 33 that was doing the same thing, so I'm also interested to know what that is before I buy the car. |

Welcome back to Alfa ownership then!
I have just stuck my Sud away into storage for the winter, just as the first salting of the roads happened - well timed eh? Miss the bloody thing already, still I suppose the wifes 33 will do in the meantime, and I can get that set of dial alloys sorted and fitted too. _________________ (00=\°/=00) (00=\°/=00)

Had a look at the maintainence forum. Things begin to look a bit clearer, I think. As it is one of those 'wonderful' Bosch systems with a catalyst it seems as though it is the lambda probe. All the symptoms point to this (low power, crappy running, high fuel consumption etc). The thing is, when it has run for a while(Half hour or so) it seems a bit better but still a bit lumpy) Am I barking up the right tree I ask myself? Where can I get one? Oh sorry I should have said it's a 1993 1.7 IE (Infuriating Engine?) with Bosch electrics and one of those funny ignition module thingies. Pain. |
