Hi all. I have just bought a FSE power boost valve off Franz who advertised it here on the discussion list. Does anyone have one of these devices fitted to their 16 Valve and will it make a big difference.??

I'm more concerned about smoother running and less hesistancy than more power as the 16valve's seem to be a bit jerky at lower revs.
Will the valve drastically effect the fuel consumption as well?? Franz reckons I'll need to adjust the AFM, but I was hoping to get my local garage in Betws (not Alfa specialists!) to fit it and set it up. Anyone got any advice? Cheers Paul.

Hi Paul,

How much did you pay for it?
Do you have chip on that car you plan to install boost valve?
(because chip should smooth power and torque curve enough for most of city drivers)

AFAIR Yaron and Amir maybe had experiance with malpasi boost valves, so you might try e-mailing them.
About fuel consumption, yes fuel boost valves usualy increase fuel consumption.

Hi,

I have the power boost valve from Malpassi installed in my car.

I have set it up to 3.2 bar fuel pressure, which is within the normal specification (2.8min - 3.2max). I also have the Squadra Chip.

The benefits of the power boost valve is not the higher pressure, but the faster response to pressure altering - 3 times faster than stock FPR.

Fuel consumption was even better with the boost valve - as long as your oxy sensor works, the fuel mixture will always be the same, except under full load.

But you shouldn't go higher than 3.2 bar pressure, otherwise the ECU will detect a fault and switches to "limp home mode".

Thanks for the advice Amir. I have my car going into the garage tomorrow to have a rear wheel bearing changed so I may get them to fit the boost valve as well. The garage is not an Alfa specialist but they seem pretty good. Would the AFM need to be adjusted and can I expect any difference to the way the car drives?? Cheers Paul.
