I'm trying to find out about boreing out the 1.7 engine. I've heard that autodelta used to offer a 1.9 boxer - does anyone know if they still do? Do you know of anyone else that does it? Also - has anyone had it done? What sort of power can I expect?
I'm thinking of having it done on my 145 1.7 - but seeing as the engine is the same, I thought it would be worth asking on here.
Thanks

Who is Autodelta? It is not the old Italian company, but maybe the English company with the same name?
You can bore to 89 mm, or even 90 mm, and then you will get 1832 cc, which some companies call 1.9 !
But you will have problems getting the right head-gaskets.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, that I have the parts laying on the floor for such a 1832 cc engine.
It will have:
- JE 90 mm pistons 11,5:1
- C&B 280S cams
- Adjustable cam wheels
- 41,5 mm inlet valves
- Optimised cylinder heads (flowed)
- EFI Euro96 engine management system
- Jenvey throttle bodies for injection
- Flywheel alu 3 kg instead of 7,5 kg
But since all the parts are only laying on the floor and the engine is not put together yet, I can not tell about the results.
Will come back with results in the spring when it is hopefully working.

| Yup, I'm talking about autodelta in the UK. I'm trying to work out if I should keep the 145 i have (i love the thing to bits) and fettle it for more power or just get rid and buy something with less weight / more power. Tempted to come back to the 33 fold. My series 2 1.7 went like a very fast thing off a shovel. |

Rich- Yours isn't the 145 recently at Lloyds due to massive differential failure, is it?
Perhaps 17" rims aern't such a great idea.
Sorry, couldn't resist the cheap laugh. It is actually painful to see any alfa crippled.
Anyway, the company Autodelta, based in Park Royal, N, London, are now called Forza tuning. Jano had been trading under the name Autodelta for years, but then Alfa wanted there name back for there succesful GTA racing campaigns in the ETCC, and other stuff. Jano had to give up the name, that may never have been his to use anyway. Autodelta was always the name for the Alfa 'works' team, but had not been used since the late seventies. Now Alfa/ETCC success is back, they are reusing there Autodelta name from way back when they were last winning!!
I do feel sorry for Jano, as he has built the name/company up, to a point where Autodelta is more synonymous with him, rather than the original Alfa works dept (unless you are particularly able to remember back to the original GTA era). However, he has given it up, with out too much of a fight, so I guess he either got paid off, or he realised the name wasn't his!! _________________ Regards

Yes, and try to look at
www.italiaspeed.com
and you will find an article of today (09.12.2003) about the new Autodelta Alfa 147 3,7 GTA.
