is it possible to make my 1.7 ie 8valve into an 16valve engine without literally changing the whole engine, and if it is how easy is it and will it actually make my motor 130hps like the original 16valves are??? |

I think there are different oilways or something that mean you can't.

Love to see you try that!
A Thema engine is transverse whereas the 33 engine is positioned longtitudinaly (lengthways).
I guess it is possible, but would take some serious work.
Can anyone prove me wrong?

Nope, it's very tricky and not really worth the hassle! And, if you manage to fit a Thema block in there, the added weight would simply make the car understeer...a lot. If you're serious about an engine transplant, look towards transverse Alfa engines - like those fitted in the 75. But really, it would upset the handling and spoil the characteristics of the 33. If you really want a bigger engine, I'd simply get a bigger car like a 75. This would probably also cost you less if you had aimed to do the transplant properly. |

Sod straight fours, keep to boxers....
There is an interesting possibility from Lancia, so in keeping with the family.
The Lancia Gamma had two engine options that I know of, both 4 cylinder boxers, one 2.0L and a 2.5L!!!! If you could source a 2.5L it would fit relatively easy, and being over square could still rev to an 'interesting' RPM. Plus lots of torque to offset the extra weight. That will be my next project IF I can find a good donor engine, and the cash. _________________ Regards

But didn't they have a tendancy to throw their cambelts?
That wouldn't be nice.
