Was recently invited to a Honda track day. On that day, the 33 being the only alfa around took out more that half of the Honda Civics. Last lap before retiring, the throttle got caught in the carpet which relocated due to the G after a downhill left sweeper. My car over-revved......
All valves bent. Is this the cause of valve bounce??? _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

That's sad if your engine is broken..
I thought the car would have a rev limiter that would prevent engine damage in that situation? And that simply revving the engine high wouldn't cause the pistons to hit the valves?
Of course I would not want to test my rev limiter to see if it works..... =|
My understanding was that valve bounce occurred when the valve springs weren't strong enough to make the valves follow the cam at high rpm. If that's correct, bent valves wouldn't cause valve bounce, but maybe in extreme cases valve bounce could cause bent valves.
Maybe the high rpm caused some of your hydraulic lifters to fail. |

i killed some of my lifters with high rpm usage and i didnt even hit the limiter. the falt 4 lump doesnt like to be kicked too hard in stock form.
then again i have hit the limiter loads of times and never had an issue. but i have taken my foot off or was in the process of lifting off as the limiter kicked in. i never kept my foot down when it reached the limiter.
hope you can get it sorted.

Oh I actually meant the valves might have bounced and caused it to hit. All exhaust valves have a slight indentation. |
