Hi...
Series 3, were galvanized. It seems that i live in the paradize for the 33...
I never saw any 33 (series 3) with rust on it... Seems that northern european countries climate is very bad on the series 3 body.
All the best

Hi,
Series 3 33 were galvanised giving emphasis to the lower parts of the body like wheel arches, rocker panels, floor etc.. Other parts of the body are also galvanised but to a lesser extend as we move towards the top.
Overall speaking the steel used in series 3 is of high quality and the anticorrosion protection is also high. The good point is that foam is no longer used in boxed sections but effective sealing and underbody protection instead, has resulted in sound car bodies.

Hi,
Yes I have seen rust around the fuel filler cap on a colleagues and also aggressive rust inside the rear wheel arches where you could see the spongy material of the rear seats.
This 33 was from northern Greece where snow and salt is dominant in these roads and of course the car was never washed from the under

Matt,
My 33 has this. Most UK 33's have this.
Want me to send you a "brown metal" picture?

LOL Thanassis!
I'm gonna get it cut out and new metal welded in. Then put some sealant up in there to stop it breaking through again.
Pain tho! _________________ Fiat Bravo 165 Sport |

Hi,
Bob use not only sealant but also underseal material - I have seen SKS by Wurth which when applied it creats a strong film of anticorrosion protection. Probably one of the best materials of the kind.
I wonder about the extend of rust from inside... Have you taken the chance to see it?

Not really mate.... I was more concerned with the 33 not having a floor when I bought it!!!!
Now I have made progress with the mechanical parts of the car, the cosmetic stuff can now be looked at.
I'll let you know how I get on!

Never seen bad rusts on S3's. My S1 is rusting around the wheel arches and edges that can collect water. Thought of visiting the body shop but will wait till I find sheltered home for it. It's amazing how the 22 year old car is running. _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |

Alot of the 33's (series III) in the UK have rusted away. This is due to the weather conditions here though.
We've replaced a lot of the floor, as brown holes are appearing all the time.
