Hi Guys,

I have the "normal" rust around the fuel filler cap, and a few other rust spots on the body.

I took the Alfa into a bodyshop today for a quote to repair all the rust (putting in new metal, not a "fill and forget") and a complete respray.

I'm awaiting a call back with the quote.

So I thought in the interim I'd run a thread so we can all guess the quote!?

The bodyshop is a little independent place....

My guess at the moment is about £700.

Bob

Hi,

Bob do you intend to resparay the car and remove all bumpers, trims, windscreens, lights etc?

Will you have a clearcoat finish?

If so, then I 'd say around 1600 - 1700 €

Regards

Hi guys,

I don't know about 'clearcoat finish' etc... I'm just giving the car over to a little local repair man and he's just going to do whatever it is he does. I know very little about bodywork and paint - I'm more of a mechanical man!!!! Laughing

I saw some other cars there though getting the same treatment - and they were very 'naked'!

my guess is probably more than the car is worth.

But it will be worth it in the long run! Wink

Hi,

Sorting the rust properly, full strip and respray, must be at least £1800.

Let's all be very friendly to JohnBoy!

Cheers,

John

I was looking at getting my car resprayed and was budgeting on around £1500-£2000 for a good job. Haven't had any quotes yet but mine doesn't have any rust around the fuel filler (I waxoyled it about 5 years ago which probably helped) - door bottoms are a bit rusty though.

I'd be interested in how much its going to be, more than the cars worth, but I'm not really worried about that as I'm very sentimental about my car.

How much would you do it for johnboy, including stripping? (mine needs the engine taking out too as the engine bay is a bit rusty)

Hi Chaps

The prise of a respray depends on how bad the car is and what you want to have done to it.
like rich b wants the engine out which is abit of a job.unless you just drop it and mask over it.could be one way of doing it.plus if you wanted clear over base coat.or just a solid colour.paint is not cheap, you get what you pay for.the longer you take on the prepping, the better the finish.
like with my car being black.it shows up all the bents.thats why im doing it again.still not happy with it. plus ive got over spray on it now as i didnt cover it up when i was painting a mini moto up in fila ducati colours Embarassed looks cool tho! thats in my lounge now. Wink
i hope this helps abit
regards john
p.s. bobbber it will have to be alot of stellar Wink
