Good question!
I dunno!
They seem to keep breaking! I haven't put an article about replacement on my website as I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly!!!!

It's the rail and plastic attachment that the electric window goes up and down on.

Yeah, I did mine a few months ago because my window was taking about 6 years to return back up, but it didn't seem to make a huge amount of difference even with making sure the window was free to move. I remember there was a knack to it as I did it twice. I can't remember what it was, but could do it reasonably quickly after a while. Have probably got a couple spare here, but I don't know how good the motors are and postage and packing would be fun? _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

Just a quick tip for all those out there playing with the regulators..
DON'T release the tension on the cables, ie: don't dismantle the entire unit by popping off the cable stops at the little springs.
The cable will just coil up around the internal pulley of the motor and the bloody thing won't work and you will have to wait six months before you find another one.
Also I think that the series 2 and or 3 units had crap plastic bits which go brittle and break ( 5 or 12 in the pic) , but the series 1 units are metal which last longer and are a straight replacement. Although the motor does bolt through different holes in a S2, This explains the additional holes in the doors.

The series 2 & 3 also have those, in metal... My previous 1.5 TI had those in metal, as well as my actual 16v...
As for they lasting longer, i woudnt bet on it... They rust a lot...
All the best
