Hello,

Where is the cheapest place to get a set of belts and pulleys for a 16v.

They do not seem to come up on Ebay very often!

I hope you 're looking only for pully bearing and not complete arms?
If that is case you should be able to buy all needed bearings from SKF importer.

Thanks Hugh,

I did give Justsuds a ring and they are coming back with a price.

On the subject of what to buy I would have thought you can not just get away with the bearing as I have seen some where the wheel colapses - or does the wheel only colapse once the bearing has failed?? It would be a shame to replace the bearings and belts and have a wheel colapse 6 months later.

Any ideas?

When I said bearing, in this case it is actualy - SKF metal bearing with outer plastic shell(wheel?) which guides belts.

People usualy have hell of time serching for complete pully arms which hold bearings along with tension springs. Idealy it would be good to replace them, but:
Original
a) hard to find
b) their price is sky high
Nonoriginal
c) less hard to find
d) still expencive
e) in many cases worse in quality then one on your alfa

So as you see, if pully arm or spring are ok, there is no need to replace anything but bearing (which is comming with new plastic outter housing).
Many 8v (have ony 2 bearings) but they must be replaced along with arms.

Thanks Tino,

I have had a quote of just over £100 - for belts and pulleys- but I do not know the full extent of what is on offer. I will give them a call and see what is included - I will let you know.

Edward.

Mark,

That sounds great - less than £70 inclusive of the vat is pretty good. I think I will give them a call. How do you get the old pulleys off the spindles??

Regards,

Edward.

Hi,

Try pressing with a good vice / sockets etc first, and save another tenner!

Also may be worth thinking about the waterpump, and alternator/pas belts whilst it's all off.

Cheers,

John

If you haven't changed waterpump in last 6-12 months, don't even think about not replacing it.
Replacing it now with quality one is cheapest.

Cheers
