|
|
I'm not wanting to miss Spring Alfa Day this year (not that I will), but my injector fuel rail (NUMBER 1) :
has decided to collapse - chucking petrol everywhere!
Anyone have a decent one of these - or know someone who does AS IT'S NOW URGENT! (Alfa Dealer, my best friend not, says 10th of MAY )
Scarey thing is, it's obviously been leaking for ages - and I've only just noticed.
Failing me getting another one - anyone think it's ok to gaffer tape it instead!?

I think the gaffer tape option wont get you out of derbyshire!!
can't you let a piece of fuel line in secured with jubilee clips? or has it gone too far for that? |

That's what I thought!
Not sure about a new peice of fuel line!
Thing that's getting me is : I've just taken two days worth of work, getting the inlet manifold off, replacing air pipes, and replacing the manifold. I'm knackered!
And NOW, to change the FUEL RAIL - THE INLET MANIFOLD HAS TO COME OFF AGAIN!!!!!! AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Hi
Bob are you sure that the leak comes from the fuel rail ?
The rail is made of nylon pipe and it is quite odd for nylon to crack; it is high pressure resistant.
Could it be the rubber hose from damper to the rail? Not uncommon to fail; after all it is rubber...

I think the main "loop" of the pipe is perished too though.
It looks like rubber on mine and has loads of cracks.

Hi,
The fuel rail is covered with a black spongy, heat proof material. It 's main role is to keep the temperature of the fuel at a constant level by not letting the heat of the engine alter the mixture's quality.
Nevermind, this black material has shown small cracks in my rail too. These are surface only and do not go deep.
Try a new hose from damper to rail and see how it performs.

Could they not have come up with a better title than this? All i hear at the moment is my missus going on about how 'SAD' i am for doing some jobs to the motor in preparation for the day! (they just don't understand).
Surely a better one would be Alfa Romeo Spring Event.................... uh, second thoughts........... |
