doh, i just swapped the black ones that were on my car when i bought it as mat (the original owner) said the original were corroded. The ones i have are a bit corroded to, but look a hell of a lot better in silver. Can you notice the difference in plastic vs ally?

no not really but i couldnt tell you until i could compare a metal one to the plastic one but they look the same structally ,the reason i noticed is because how light it was, its a drivers side mirror by the way and the colour is a greyey silver not that bright silver.

I sure do... but I don’t have an online photo bucket setup, I have sent you an email.
I did this to my red Alfa and taking the mesh off without damaging it was a challenge. I used lots of clear sealant, on the premise that I will not be taking it off.
Anyways I succeeded and spent loads of time getting it to fit in the recess, instead of overlapping it. I will take a pic of it on the car and send that to you as well.
When i get the time i will cut away the black plastic around the badge on my red 1 before i do it to my silver 1. Just to make sure it looks ok

Another Thing i wanted to try and do is to fit a buld behind the badges and come on when the light are on.
Or would this be a bit toooo tacky??

Incidentally - I used to have some mesh like that on mine.... but it corroded and looked awful.

What's yours made of? And how did you make it?

thanks for the offer, i asked pat to host the last lot for me, but he took them off Sad
The mesh is from halfords, a sheet is £20, 2 or 3ft ft by 1 ft, abouts???
It was on my red 1 for about 6mnths, a little part is a bit dirty but still looks ok.
I took off the original black plastic grills and made a template out of card board, then u cut out this shape, with a 1inch border all round, so that i could fold it over and glue in place. However when i removed it, it broke along where it was glued, so no overhang, so i decided to cut it to the exact shape... phew what a time consuming effort that was. You have to be carefull where you cut it, if there is a piece that has no suport it will bend. Glueing it in place is tricky, i put sealant all round the recess and put the original plastick grill over it and put a tool box on it to hold it in. When i checked it, not all of it had glued, so i just allpied touches of glue to these parts. Now thse bits are not strong, but the glue is there and flex's slightly
Any how, i think it was worth it.
Next thing to do is colour code the all the black parts on the bumper and swap over the lower mesh aswell.
