Given the age of your 33, it is more than likely that the nylon bushes in the selector assembly is well worn. I bet the gear stick wobbles about quite a bit when in neutral (and any gear!). THere are three points to work on: on the lower mount of the arm which is held by a long narrow bolt through the extension arm - a bush needs to be replaced. Replacements tend to be in two parts, one for each side of the arm. The other point is at the base of the selector (from insode the cabin) - where under a rubber box-shaped boot you'll find a metal tub in which slides a nylon bush. This needs to be unbolted and removed. The bush sits on a point at the end of the arm. Note: there are two types of bush available - one is cubed shaped, the other is dome shaped. Make sure you know which one you're after because the stock numbering for these can be the same!!!!!! Cost for these bushes - probably the cheapest things you'll ever buy for the 33 ! _________________ Chris Notsis |

Synchromesh rings in the box may also be worn - very common in high km 1985 33s. As a stop-gap measure, consider double-clutching when changing so as to reduce crunching gears as much. If the selector problem is all it is, then all is well. IF not, then a reconditioning of the box may be called for. _________________ Chris Notsis |
