ARrrgh! My friend who has a holden astra 2.2 which is AUTO still beats me! My 33 16v has a better power to weight ratio and is obviously manual but he wins! We had 3 drags and i got a better start than him and can beat him to 100 but then he pulls me back and overtakes and wins by about 1/2 -1 car length. My car is running perfect, and is one of the one of the 33's in australia that is running really well. gearbox is good, no worn 2nd gear syncro and tyres are ok. Clutch is only 1/2 years old. SO what gives? So much for performance figures. According to those i should kill him. _________________ 91 Alfa Romeo 33 16v * SOLD*

Hey Errol,
How do you know that you've got one of the best running Alfas in OZ?
I've got a couple in QLD that are no slouches!
Who wants to bat an Astra anyway. The things that are better to beat are the punks in their hotted up Commodes! _________________ John H

I mean best running as in like its in excellent condition , not the best modded. Its still stock standard 95kw, but id rather beat a astra than a commodore . We all know commodore's a crap. An astra is more european and more in competition to my 33 , because its 4cylinder etc. But im still uncertain why i cant beat him. Damn 2.2! When i get my exhaust it will be a different story. _________________ 91 Alfa Romeo 33 16v * SOLD*

The astra will have more torque than the 33.
Anyway you should not be racing on the road, leave that for the track. _________________ Scott Sander

Yeh it does. ITs got 203nm against my 151nm. Big difference. I wouldnt call it racing..just a bit of straight road fun. I dont go racing him all over the road like you would on a track. _________________ 91 Alfa Romeo 33 16v * SOLD*

the alfa likes the twisty bits. i imagine you would have him beat if it were through the curly bits. cornering and handling probably still way better on the alfa even with the huge age difference.
Racing in a straight line should be left to the funny cars and the rails......alfa's need corners.

Couldnt agree more, however he only beat me by 1/2 car which is not bad considering his car is 13yrd newer! AT the moment i have a loose shock absorber so cornering is big no no for me until it gets fixed. _________________ 91 Alfa Romeo 33 16v * SOLD*

How loose? Which one, front or back? _________________ Scott Sander

Its the front left. Remember i made a post of how i had a squeaking noise from the front left? Well ive found out its the fron left shock asborber is loose in side and its making the car handle terribly. ITs got koni's in there and the shock has to be sent away to be tested. Trust me to get pedders. Idiots. _________________ 91 Alfa Romeo 33 16v * SOLD*
