Hi everybody, as you all know I have been without my 33 for a good 5 months and haven’t been able to make a start on repairing it until yesterday.
Upon doing so my spare wheel well was full to the top with water.
I can’t figure out where this water has come from as any water dripping into the hatchback is channelled around and down towards the rear lights. There was no water on the parcel shelf and the windows are bonded. I was thinking maybe sunroof drains but the sunroof is closed and doesn’t leak and even if water does get in there surely it wouldn’t be enough to fill the whole spare wheel well.
I am at a loss, any helpful "bobbber" and serious suggestions.

Hi, Once you've bailed out the wheel well or drilled a drain hole - with a hand or airdrill- else Shocked , climb in the back and get an assistant to hose down the back.

Could also be boot seal, but lights are prime suspect as Johnboy said. You can seal the lights with dum-dum or even bathroom sealant.

Thanks guys, when the car is mobile again I will test with a hose for leaks around the lights. If it does leak I will probably replace the seals instead of bodging it Smile On the 8v there is a rubber bung in the bottom of the well but on the 16v it’s made of metal and I didn’t know and damaged it removing it, DOH!

Hi

Ages ago I also had the spare wheel well converted in poll. A test from outside with the garden hose and me inside, prooved that the boot seal was the one to blame.

Replaced it with a new one and problem solved Wink

Regards,

Al,

Probably the metal lip which the rubber sits over has rusted away.
